McCain joined his father in the Jewelry business while he was a boy, and owned and operated the L.R. On December 31, 1935, he was married in Delphi to Roseland Amm, and she survives. In 1968 Eric and Betty decided to move to Escanaba when a jewelry store in downtown became available to purchase. at the Bradley University School of Horology (Study of Time) and went to work in Kalamazoo, Mich. Sudden layoffs caused him to investigate other careers and he decided to learn to be a watchmaker following the footsteps of his uncle. Nyman spent his early career, after serving in the Korean War, working in an auto factory. He joked that there is not much watch repair any longer because those darn quartz watches put him out of business. While daughter Sue Nyman Parker is now the CEO and calls the shots, Eric serves as the chief-gofer and continues to repair watches and handles accounting. Betty passed away 16 years ago and her presence has been missed. He and his wife Betty bought the store 54 years ago. Nyman, 89, still work six days a week in the store. Eric Nyman of Nyman Jewelers in downtown Escanaba was one of those jewelers featured in the December 2022 issue of the trade magazine.
